She came in with a copper that had been beautiful in March and was muddy by August, and asked for the same thing again. I talked her out of it. What she actually wanted was a colour that would still look intentional in January, which is a different brief.

So the root stays where nature put it and the lift starts below the cheekbone, freehand, nothing touching the parting. It reads as one colour in the mirror and as three in daylight. She books a toner at ten weeks and a full session twice a year, and that is the whole maintenance.

A two-chair room above the simit oven on Akarsu Yokusu. Colour built for the grow-out, cuts done dry, six clients a day at most - so nobody sits in foils waiting for me to come back. Colour consultations are free and take twenty minutes.
