She arrived with one length past the chest and a photograph of a cut that only works on hair with a bend in it. Hers has one, faintly, which is enough.

The layers are cut with the head upright and the sections taken vertically, so nothing sits in a shelf, and the bangs are split at the centre and left long at the cheekbone. I told her not to wash it the day of a party. She did not believe me until the second time.
